Welcome to La Maison de Dame Holda

This former forester’s cottage is located right at the edge of the forest. Fôret d’Écouves is a beautiful and rustic forest area where you can enjoy many delightful walking routes. The house is situated right on walking router GR36, this route is a must for the real walking fanatic.  

The Gîte is small and atmospherically furnished and has its own garden.  

Enjoy peace and tranquility in our beautiful garden and orchard that brings the fairytale of ‘Mother Hulda’ (’Dame Holda’) to life. At La Maison de Dame Holda fresh vegetables from our own kitchen garden are for sale, as well as fresh eggs from our own chickens. There are also two very kind soft hearted ponies who are enjoying their old age, and they love being cuddled and being brushed by visitors. Feeding is allowed, please ask for permission. 

 
From Tanville you can explore the entirety of Normandy. At approximately 700 km from Utrecht and about 4 hours from Calais and Duinkerke it is a short day trip away. There are plenty of cultural places and attractions to enjoy within a short distance. The D-day beaches (Utah Beach, Omaha Beach), and beautiful historical cities like Alencon, Sées, Bagnoles de l’Orne, Saint-Céneri-le-Gérei, Domfront, Bayeux, Lisieux are some of the places you can enjoy as day trips. In addition, the forests of Broceliande in Britanny are recommended if you are interested in the magical stories of King Arthur and Merlin.
